But I started feeling restricted and stiff, like I was "in a box". To shake things up, I tried alcohol inks and immediately said “I want to do that!"
I was drawn to the spontaneity, originality, and freedom of working with inks. No two pieces are alike. This medium continues to take me in a direction that feels right.
Alcohol inks move quickly and unpredictably, ensuring no two pieces are ever alike. Working with them allows me to respond in the moment—guiding, not controlling—letting each painting take its own path.
My work continues to evolve alongside this process. At its heart, it aims to spark connection and invite curiosity—encouraging others to see the world, and themselves, with a little more color, flow, and openness.
The artist behind the work
My story starts with an empty nest after a career as a retail buyer. With time on my hands, I started experimenting with watercolors and the flow of water and paint. I attended workshops and classes, and spent a lot of time on my own with the medium.
After a few years, I was introduced to pastels, and I loved the immediacy of colors and the ability to create unique shades through layering.
I focused on realism, painting flowers and landscapes. I tried to depict what I saw in the real world into my art and for a while I loved that challenge.
